Al.com reports a female passenger aboard the Carnival cruise ship Elation was injured in a fall shortly after the ship departed the Alabama Cruise Terminal on March 7, 2011. The injury caused the vessel to dock at a coal terminal in order for the passenger to be taken off the ship for further medical care.

The 50-year-old woman was medically evacuated from the Elation after the Carnival cruise ship docked at the McDuffie Coal Terminal south of downtown. Paramedics with the Mobile Fire-Rescue Department responded to the medical distress call and treated the passenger before she was taken to a local hospital.
