Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the paddleboat Starlite Princess ran aground in Ormond Beach while carrying 150 passengers on December 11, 2010. The 107′ paddlewheel riverboat was nearly half-full Friday night when the grounding occurred. The vessel was grounded for nearly 2 hours in the intracoastal waterway before freed by salvors.

StarLite president Phil Henderson said the captain steered the vessel into too shallow waters, and a slight breeze pushed it along. The Coast Guard is investigating the cause of the grounding. This is the Starlite Princess’ second grounding.
