The Outerbanksvoice.com reports a 57-year-old passenger was airlifted from the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) ship Norwegian Gem 28 miles east off Cape Hatteras.

At 12:45 p.m. on April 3rd the ship’s doctor radioed the Coast Guard reporting that an injured passenger was suffering from internal bleeding and requested he be airlifted off the vessel. A Jayhawk helicopter crew was sent from the Coast Guard Station Elizabeth City medevaced the passenger and a ship’s nurse to Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City, North Carolina.
