Coast Guard News reports a 64 year old passenger aboard Princess Cruises’ ship Emerald Princess on March 16, 2011. The passenger began experienced breathing problems and was placed on a ventilator approximately 115 miles from Haiti. The Emerald Princess requested the Coast Guard medevac the passenger. A MH-65C helicopter crew attached to the Coast Guard Cutter Spencer responded and carried the passenger to Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The passenger was then flown to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to receive further treatment.
