Why Hire Us
Maritime and admiralty litigation is fundamentally complex. The procedural nuances, conflicts over venue and applicable law, and substantial resource advantages that maritime industry defendants (typically) enjoy can create a rather intimidating litigation landscape for the erstwhile plaintiff. Given the unique challenges and opportunities associated with such litigation, securing the guidance of an experienced team of attorneys is simply non-negotiable if you intend to achieve success against an aggressive defendant.
Here at Brais Law Firm, our attorneys and attorney(s) “of counsel” boast more than 75 years of combined experience representing passengers, crew members, dockworkers, and others in maritime and admiralty litigation worldwide. This experience is “practical” and comes with a proven track record of success. Since 2012 alone, we have helped our clients obtain over $60 million in settlements and trial verdicts.
We believe that the breadth and depth of our work has given us key insight into the strategies utilized by the opposition, and how best to overcome them. In the maritime and admiralty litigation context, an aggressive stance is often necessary. Unlike many of our competitors, we are willing and able to try cases to their conclusion. This enables us to exercise significant leverage at the negotiating table and put pressure on defendants early on.
Of course, when evaluating your firm options, the attorney-client relationship is also likely to be a major determinative factor. At Brais Law Firm, we are committed to client-oriented legal representation — we see the attorney-client relationship as a partnership. As such, we engage closely with the client at every stage of litigation. This not only allows us to clearly communicate case developments (in a timely manner), but also ensures that we more fully understand the client’s goals, preferences, and concerns.
The attorneys within and “of counsel” to our firm have more than 75 years of collective experience trying cases before judges and juries.
