WVEC.com reports Toddler and Mother Medevaced off Norwegian Cruise Line’s ship Norwegian Gem Coast Guard reported to a request to medevac a 16 month old girl suffering from an upper respiratory track infection and respiratory distress from the Norwegian Gem on December 18, 2010.

Lt. Commander Todd Block commanding pilot of the MH-60T rescue helicopter stated “it was a very difficult hoist” as the mission was conducted in high with with heavy rain and snow. The infant was taken to New Hanover Regional Hospital in Wilmington, North Carolina. The status of the child’s condition is currently unknown.
