WAVY.com reports that the Coast Guard medevaced a 59-year old woman from Royal Caribbean’s cruise ship Explorer of the Sea.

At 8:50 a.m. on March 10, 2011 Coast Guard Watchstanders received a call from the Explorer of the Seas stating that a passenger’s medical condition necessitated immediate medical attention. At the time of the call the cruise ship was approximately 230 miles east of Cape Henry, Virginia. The passenger and a nurse were flown by a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. There is no word on the woman’s current condition.
