Cruise Passenger Airlifted from Holland America’s Ryndam after Fall

The Associated Press is reporting that on December 18, 2010 passenger, Andrew Spicer (46), was injured from a fall aboard the Holland America cruise ship Ryndam while in the Gulf of Mexico and was airlifted to a Tampa, Florida hospital. The Ryndam was approximately 120 miles southwest of St. Petersburg, Florida at the time of the accident.

Royal Caribbean’s Brilliance of the Seas Rocked by High Winds

CNN travel reports Royal Caribbean’s cruise ship Brilliance of the Seas encountered high winds and rough seas while carrying 2000 passengers off the coast of Alexandria, Egypt. The storm resulted in nearly 30 passengers being injured, shattered glass and overturned furniture. The damage forced the closure of the vessel’s beauty salon, video arcade and discos for the remainder of the cruise. The cruise ship is expected to return Barcelona as scheduled.

Daytona Beach News-Journal reports the paddleboat Starlite Princess ran aground in Ormond Beach while carrying 150 passengers on December 11, 2010. The 107′ paddlewheel riverboat was nearly half-full Friday night when the grounding occurred. The vessel was grounded for nearly 2 hours in the intracoastal waterway before freed by salvors.

36 Year Old Woman Dies Aboard Carnival Cruise Ship

The reports a 36 year old passenger was found unconscious in her cabin aboard the Carnival Liberty as the ship was heading to St. Thomas. The woman received medical attention on the cruise ship, but she was pronounced dead two hours later. The incident was reported to the FBI who is conducting an investigation.
