The Coast Guard reports two passengers were evacuated from the Carnival Splendor cruise ship off the coast of North Carolina. It appears the two vacationers became extremely sick aboard the ship prompting the captain to request medical assistance. The Splendor, at the Coast Guard’s request, deviated its course closer to shore so the passengers could be picked up by helicopter. Information about the passengers’ medical condition is not currently available.
